Dolna enthralls with live art as Mercedes-Benz celebrates excellence

Mumbai, 19th May 2014 - Dolna, a unique art initiative by Mithu Basu, spruces up the Mercedes-Benz India "Year of Excellence" event with its trademark live art-and-dance show for Shaman Mercedes-Benz. Celebrating its recent accolades in the luxury car segment, Mercedes-Benz India unveiled its award winning vehicles - A-Class, E-Class, B-Class and GL-Class in gold decal for its exclusive customers and dealers.

Conceptualized by Ms. Basu, the top-notch event saw Dolna's artist Subodh Poddar, capturing live on canvas a riot of colours inspired by the spirit of contemporary dance forms choreographed by Nikhil Anand. Mr.Poddar created six vivid canvases depicting dancers twirling silky florescent ribbons in the air with their free style moves. There was skate dance and also did a high-energy glow dance where costumes glowed when the lights went out.

Subodh Poddar had the audience mesmerized as they gathered around to watch him paint in swift spatula strokes within the few minutes of every dance performed. These paintings were then displayed in a makeshift gallery for the audience to enjoy over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Six art pieces from the Dolna collection were also displayed alongside the cars to enhance the luxury ambience.

While unveiling the cars, Mr. Amar Sheth, Managing Director, Shaman Wheels Pvt. Ltd.said , "It gives us great pride to announce that Mercedes-Benz has emerged the Most Awarded Luxury Car Brand in India. It has won 16 awards in the last year which is higher than any other luxury car brand. This calls for our 'Celebrate Excellence campaign, as a part of which a convoy of gold foiled cars will travel through 23 cities across India in the next 45 days."

Mithu Basu, Founder, commented on the occasion, "It is a proud moment for Dolna to see the integration of art with the Mrecedes Benz 'Celebrate Excellence' campaign. We thank Mr. Amar Sheth for patronage of the arts and look forward to strengthening the association.
