What you will find at Dolna Art

What you will find here

You have come to a place where curation is uncompromising. The art you see has been chosen for collectors who seek imagination, authenticity and resonance. Every artist here has been selected for a voice that is distinctly their own.

And every one of those voices is Indian. Living. Working. Ready.

At Dolna Art we are convinced — Indian art belongs on the world stage. The time is now.

Trust and transparency at Dolna Art

Why you can trust us

Transparency is our foundation. Artists retain their earned value — Dolna Art takes only 15%, ensuring fairness.

For you the collector, this means confidence. Every piece has been chosen with discernment and every transaction is clear.

Our commitment is simple — respect the artist, elevate the collector, while sustaining the movement.

The Dolna Art Story

The name Dolna Art was born from a moment of poetic synchronicity. While searching for a name that could embody Mitu Basu's desire to gently uplift artists — like the tender push of a child's swing — She shared her vision with renowned designer Subrata Bhowmick. He responded, "In Bengali, that's called a Dolna Art."

The resonance deepened: Dolna Art was also the name of Mitu's late mother — her fountainhead of beauty, creativity, and grace. With heartfelt affirmation, Subrata said, "Let Dolna Art be a tribute to your mother. With her blessings, let's begin." He hand-scripted the Dolna Art logo, embedding Mitu's signature bindi into the 'O' — a mark of individuality, commitment, and distinctly Indian identity.

Dolna Art is not just a brand. It is a living tribute to creativity, connection, and cultural depth.

Founder's Profile

Some people collect art. Mitu Basu chose to collect artists.

She did not stumble into the art world. She chose it. And then, at a defining moment, she chose it again — more deliberately, more completely, at the cost of everything she had already built.

Born into a Bengali family with roots in Kolkata, she grew up in Mumbai — shaped by a mother who taught her that living itself is art. From Kitasu to Cine Blitz to nine years running her own design studio, to a decade as General Manager Corporate Communications at The Leela Group of Hotels.

Each decade added something the next would need.

She went to Santiniketan on a three-month study leave. She arrived to refresh. She left knowing she could never go back. Around her were artists of extraordinary ability — and she could see exactly what was missing.

In 2010, Dolna Art was founded.

Over fifteen years and more than 250 exhibitions, she built an address that places the living Indian artist at its centre. Not as a transaction. As a commitment.

In 2026, Dolna Art launches India Rising — a year-long series celebrating Indian artists across every discipline, tradition and geography.

Dolna Art is that belief. Made real.

The Book

On the day of Dolna Art's inaugural event, Mitu Basu will also release Visible to Viable: The Marketing Handbook for Every Indian Artist. This book is designed to empower artists with clarity, strategy, and tools to thrive in today's art world. It reflects Dolna Art's larger mission: to elevate artists while guiding collectors toward works of true distinction.

Visible to Viable

The Future of Art

As the world moves deeper into technology, Dolna Art believes the art world must push back — becoming more hand-driven, authentic, and human. Tools may assist, but creation must remain 100% hand-done.

The future we see is one where collectors value the touch of the artist, the grain of the brush, and the authenticity of the handmade. Dolna Art stands for that future: art that resists automation, art that remains human.
